middling about madison

Nice job! I was blown away by the readme, normally people write like 3 sentences, keep up the great work!

SO devlog. i originally was not going to submit this to summer of making (is it autumn of making now that it is metereological autumn? fall? who know) but i decided too because shells very cool wow and uhh yeahh.
so this was originally deployed on binder which didnt really count so i had to set up a workflow to publish it to a jupyterlite instance on github pages which was lowk crazy.
anyways im teaching these lessons to kids who dont have any or much coding experience in my hs programming club and im trying to bring more people into the computer science field or teach them practical skills because i like cs and its fun to help people! its hard to teach ppl tho and its hard to get a wide spectrum of content across to kids who have not much experience

python in a notebook(s) | jupyter python lessons

this is a series of interactive jupyter notebooks with practice problems, semi-practical coding exercises and tutorials on learning a basic knowledge of Python and basic programming concepts. i wrote this for my high school programming club so i could help teach the kids who don't know programming and least a bit of the fundamentals. this covers printing and variables, loops and logic, data structure, file handling and io, and maybe more to come. this is intended to provide the basis for a deeper dive into specialized python libraries (flask, pytorch, pyplot, pygame, etc.) for those who want to delve deeper. (god i shouldnt have used delve i sound like a freakin clanker now)

uhhh so devlog devlog devlog
i was gonna submit this project for athena but instead im submitting it for summer of making too. i added a release to the releases page and fixed a bunch of stupid bugs (bugs? silksong reference?) and made things look overall better than before. its still quite annoying to playtest because i need to play my game i didnt code any admin shortcuts in either :sob:

warlords card game | tui application

this project is a terminal implementation of the classic Australian game *Warlords* which I learned from my aunt and uncle during my trip to visit them in Australia. it's made 100% in java (not the island, the language) with no clankers, not even line autocomplete. it's colored using ansi terminal codes and plays pass-and-play. warlords is not really like multiplayer war, the objective is to get rid of all the cards in your hand before everyone else does, and you play consecutive ascending cards clockwise in a trick, you can play singles, pairs, etc. highest card at the end of a set gets to start. if you win, you become the WARLORD and can extract tribute from the losing player.

sooo i started making this for jumpstart daydream and i kind of got sidetracked adding more and more features until i was at 9 hours which was uh a bit above the required one hour of time. i added level tiles and players and a finish game checkpoint that could be used in order to progress to new levels. i spent a lot of time figuring out how godot worked which is why it took so long lmao but i have coolectible cheese that turns you yellow, and beer tiles that make you slide.

middling about madison

my first godot game! barebones of a side-scrolling platformer built for daydream jumpstart from hack club. small platformer that takes you through the streets of downtown madison (accurate representation of my morning commute btw) where you have to navigate the perils of madison life, mainly bicycles and beer scattred haphazardly throughout the streets. collect the cheese because we're cheeseheads and reach the capitol at the end to gift your cheese to governor tony evers as a "campaign contribution"
