A beginner's hack at web dev! This is a simple RPG game where you have to try and get out of the scene by talking to the npcs and collecting gems. If you succeed, the game will ask you if you want to go to the other pages for #summer-of-making-grand-survey-expedition (saying no to everythin will show you the game over screen)

Once you ship this you can't edit the description of the project, but you'll be able to add more devlogs and re-ship it as you add new features!
I significantly improved the story line, and made it so that both characters now can speak. I also tried to make it so that the character's speak would be spaced out over controllable lines, but I was unable to. A few more hours would have helped, but hey the game is gaming!!!
I made it so that it grand-surveyor uses an iframe, that way it will actually work!!!! (The image shows my new code, 1995 lines shorter!)
Cleaned everything up, but was unable to add a second page because vercel is just like that :((( As a beginner, this is waay to hard to get it to say game over or anything ngl.
I also added every single wall on the lower level by hand...
I made it so that the gems disapear after you take them and don't respawn when going back onto that level
Oof, it sure took me way too much time, but hey I made it so that you can press the space bar to get the box on screen, space bar to skip writing animation, and then space bar to hide the box!
I got a custom text box to display! I can also control what text it shows as I have used an image font, and it is basically just stamping the different images down every time it is commanded to draw any text. This will be useful with NPCs, y'know. (It doesn't yet trigger when touching the NPC, however)
Second Level Hurrah!
I got another level working, however I am still running mostly with a tutorial, and thus I am using their art.
As it stands right now, there is a bit of a glitch for a single frame when going in between scenes, but I am working on it. It's only there for 1/60th of a second, but still is weird.
Another thing to do is to put all the spots in in which you can't go, as as of now only the first level has any hitboxes.
ok.ok.
So I HAD finished the inventory system and all that nice stuff, along with the character showing off its loot, then I accidentally broke the entire project. Turns out the node_modules directory got deleted, and now it works again!!!!
I got it to now:
1, move camera instead of the player
2, display an item,
3, create a broadcaster function so that the sprites can talk to each other!
I added all the hitboxes, along with made the code easier to read. There were two times when I couldn't figure out what wasn't working, and it just turned out to be a typo in a string :(((
Oh yeah and all the animations work now.
I got some animations working! Just don't mind the fact that you can walk through some items...
I got the basics of the game working, and I also published it to the web @ madhav.wiki (www.madhav.wiki)
So far, I am closely following a tutorial, and thus all art, etc. is from it too, but soon enough I will diverge.
