I finished the game and submitted it to the jam. (I did it a while ago but forgot to upload devlog)
Level 2: Purgatory created. Based on what I imagine whenever I hear the word Purgatory. No clue how accurate it is to religion
I added a new enemy, which is this eye thing. It shoots these weird looking projectiles which, when deflected, aggravate the eye making it jump at you.
I worked on the graphics today, I tried to make a sort of hanging garden vibe which I get from neon white's interpretation of heaven. The pillars and floors and vines themselves are all just stock images.
I added movement and enemy logic (shooting arrows). I created the first level which is in the form of a series of connected rooms. (Red, blue and green are the room transitions and orange is a powerup) (I drew the intended path in red)
Okay so day 1 I haven't gotten much done because I was configuring hackatime so I just made some basic sprites for the scientist and some angels who'll be the enemies. I'm not the best at pixel art so I've gotta work with what I've got and this is what I've got:
I'm making a game for a game jam where the theme is "you can not go up" so I'm making a game about an evil scientist who's been judged to go to heaven trying to go to hell (because he's evil)
This was widely regarded as a great move by everyone.
